Novice Forklift Training in Nottingham
The full basic operator course for people who have never driven a lift truck. Three to five days at your Nottinghamshire premises, finishing with the accredited test.
Novice training takes someone who has never sat on a forklift and brings them to the standard the HSE describes as basic training in its Approved Code of Practice L117. It follows the full RTITB, AITT or ITSSAR syllabus: the law and why it exists, how a lift truck stays upright and how it falls over, pre-use inspection, then progressively harder practical work until the candidate is handling real loads in your real aisles.
Everything happens at your site. The instructor will want a quiet room or canteen for the theory sessions and a coned-off area to start the practical work, then moves into your working areas once candidates are competent. A three-candidate counterbalance course usually runs three days; reach trucks, VNA, telehandlers and articulated trucks take longer because there is more to learn.
On the final day each candidate sits a theory test, carries out a pre-use inspection under observation and takes a practical test to the accredited-body marking scheme. Successful candidates receive a certificate of basic training, posted to you within 14 days where a credit account is in place. If someone is not ready, the instructor will tell you plainly rather than put them through a test they will fail.
