Forklift training in Nottingham and across Nottinghamshire
If your business needs forklift operators trained, tested and certificated, speak to Forklift Agency on 0115 972 9944.
Forklift Agency has trained businesses in Nottingham and throughout the UK since 2007. Our instructors are registered with the accrediting bodies whose certificates the Health and Safety Executive recognises, and they come to you: your site, your trucks, your aisles and loading bays. Training can be built around the tasks your operators actually do, so they are safe and productive from their first shift.
Every instructor has been vetted by us, has worked with Forklift Agency for years, carries their own public liability insurance, and arrives with a laptop or tablet for the safety videos and all the paperwork the course needs. You provide the truck and a safe area; we provide everything else.
Certificates are usually posted within 14 days of training where a credit account is in place, or 28 days where payment is received by other means. Credit accounts are available to businesses subject to a credit assessment; the first booking is paid in advance.
More about Forklift Agency · What the law requires of employers
Every type of forklift truck
One page per truck category, with what the machine does, what the course covers and how long it takes.
Counterbalance Forklift
The everyday workhorse of yards, loading bays and factory floors. Forks out front, counterweight at the back, no outriggers to get in the way.
Reach Truck
The high-bay warehouse specialist. Outriggers for stability and a mast that reaches forward into the racking, so the truck itself never has to.
Double Deep Reach Truck
A reach truck with a telescopic pantograph that can place a second pallet behind the first, squeezing far more stock into the same floor space.
4-Way (Multi-Directional) Reach Truck
The long-load truck. All four wheels turn through ninety degrees so the operator can carry timber, steel or pipe sideways down a narrow aisle.
VNA Truck (Man-Up and Man-Down)
Very narrow aisle trucks run in wire- or rail-guided aisles barely wider than a pallet, with the forks swivelling to serve both sides without the truck turning.
Bendi and Flexi (Articulated) Forklift
The truck that bends in the middle. An articulated front end lets one machine unload the lorry outside and stack in very narrow aisles inside.

Questions we get asked
Do you train individuals who want a forklift licence?
No. Forklift Agency trains businesses only, on site at premises where forklift trucks are available. If you are an individual in Nottingham looking for a course, our Forklift Training Centres website lists centres by region, or search for "forklift training centres" on Yell.
Where does the training happen?
At your premises, on your trucks, in the environment your operators actually work in. We do not run a training centre in Nottingham or anywhere else. The instructor brings everything else: the safety videos on a laptop or tablet, theory material, cones, test papers and the certificates.
Which accrediting bodies do you work with?
Our instructors are registered with RTITB, AITT or ITSSAR, the accrediting bodies whose certificates are recognised by the Health and Safety Executive under the Approved Code of Practice L117. Every instructor has been vetted by us, holds their own public liability insurance and has worked with Forklift Agency for years.
How long does a forklift course take?
A novice counterbalance course for three candidates takes three days. Reach trucks, VNA, telehandlers and articulated trucks take longer. Refresher and conversion courses are normally one day, and powered pallet truck courses can be half a day. We confirm the duration in the quote.
How many people can one instructor train?
Three novices on one truck is the accredited-body maximum. Refresher courses can take more candidates in a day. For bigger groups we send more than one instructor or run consecutive courses, whichever costs you less.
Do you charge more for nights or weekends?
No. Our instructors fit into your shift pattern, including early mornings, nights and weekends, at no extra cost, subject to availability.
